A Memorable Encounter with Sri Lankan Cricketing Legend Kumar Sangakkara – Chandigarh, India | 2012

In 2012, I had the privilege of meeting Sri Lankan cricketing legend Kumar Sangakkara at a chocolate shop in Chandigarh, India.

What began as a memorable encounter developed into an insightful discussion about the future of cricket, particularly how emerging technology could improve the accuracy and fairness of Leg Before Wicket (LBW) decisions.

Our conversation reflected a shared appreciation for cricket, innovation and the importance of embracing technology to strengthen decision-making within the sport.

What made this encounter particularly special was the mutual respect we established, something that has remained meaningful to me ever since.

Great encounters are not simply about meeting extraordinary individuals, but about the conversations, ideas and lasting respect that follow.
